Just how bad are business presentations today?

The presentation world is buzzing with anticipation as we prepare to release the findings of our 2010 Business Presentation Survey.

From exposing the extent of PowerPoint presentation abuse through to celebrating new advances in design and technology, the survey gets to the core of how businesses are using presentations today. more>

250 corporate presenters contributed to the survey, spilling the beans on their use of PowerPoint and other presentation technologies.

“We’ve seen a lot of positive changes since our initial survey back in 2007.  The phenomenon of Death by PowerPoint is recognised by businesses globally and some are making concerted efforts to address it head on,” commented Eyeful’s Managing Director Simon Morton. “That said, it would seem that there is still a lot work to be done in some areas.  This year’s survey gives us a clear indication of progress in the last three years along with the impact of new presentation technologies such as Google Presentations and Prezi.”

The findings will be presented in two upcoming webinars in the UK and North America on the 3rd August. Spaces are limited for the two events and interest levels following the survey are very high so the events are expected to be fully booked.

Your Vote Counts! Eyeful launches The Business Presentations Survey 2010
Some time ago, Eyeful conducted an online survey to understand just how companies were using PowerPoint.  Many of the findings were a surprise.  Some were downright astonishing. Time and technology wait for no one, especially in the world of presentations.  With this in mind, we decided that it’s now time to survey again and see quite how things have changed. more>

The Business Presentation Survey 2010 has been designed to report on the latest trends in presentations and quite how business people are reacting to the multitude of new technologies and thinking that they are bombarded by on a daily basis.

We’d really appreciate your time (3 minutes maximum) to answer a few short questions on when, why and how you use presentation software.  As an extra incentive to ensure we get as many people involved as possible, we’re giving out 25 PowerPoint Amnesty Action Packs to a randomly picked sample of respondents.  So what’s stopping you?!

We’ll be running the survey through until the 18th July so please don’t delay – your response and feedback is important!

Farewell Brainstorm Barn, Hello Eyeful Towers

Against the general flow of things in our market, here at Eyeful we’ve continued to grow in terms of customers, people and geography.  One of the drawbacks of growth is that fact that we keep running out of space.

We've seen instances where the client would have benefited from bid support and guidance earlier on.” Continued Morton “We decided to do something about it and our partnership with Sales Engine is the result. I’m delighted that we're now able to provide clients with the full scope of bid support services - something unique in the marketplace.”  [hide]

Eyeful survey highlights the extent of Presentation Paradox

The world’s press have understandably grabbed hold of the results from Eyeful’s PowerPoint usage survey. Sadly it confirmed our biggest fears – the presentation paradox has firmly taken a hold of companies up and down the land.  To learn more, click here. more>

In the survey, Eyeful found that the majority of businesses were guilty of a lack of investment in their presentation collateral, particularly their sales presentation. With over 30 million presentations estimated to be given every day across the globe, the survey revealed 46% of companies considered PowerPoint as their most important sales tools yet a staggering 72% of all businesses did not regularly review their presentations.

“In short, businesses are leaving their most valuable sales tool unchecked and open to abuse” added Morton, “This laissez faire approach would not be allowed to happen with other sales collateral so we’re appalled that business critical presentations are suffering such a fate!”

Eyeful Presentations – The Movie

We're proud to say that we've pushed the PowerPoint envelope yet further to produce Eyeful Presentations – The Movie.  Rumour has it that Spielberg wanted in but we can neither confirm or deny…  Click here to view. more>

When not producing ground-breaking presentations for our clients, we like to break open the toybox and have a play with PowerPoint for our own purposes.  This time the brief to the design team was to tell the story of Eyeful…and wow, what a result!

Not only did they perform their regular minor miracles with PowerPoint design and animation but also converted it for use as a movie on our website.  We think this “repurposing” or “recycling” of PowerPoint presentations is a jolly good idea.  Not only does it mean that you get to share your carefully honed story and message with a wider audience, but you also increase the return on investment from the development of your presentation.

So ask yourself, could you be getting more bang for your buck from that exhibition or conference presentation lurking unloved on your server?  If so, give us a call and we'll let you in on the secret. [hide]

Plans to marry in Florence in 2009 are currently eating up what little time we let her have away from the office.
